GTO to negotiate room rates with guest house owners in Delhi
July 19, 2010
Games Travel Office (GTO) of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee will negotiate the room rates with guest house owners’ representatives in Delhi at the behest of Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India. GTO is believed to have approached the MoT to help it bring the guest house owners to the negotiating table in order to fix the rates for guest houses especially from Paharganj area as soon as possible. Subsequently, a meeting of the guest house owners’ representative bodies from various clusters was convened last week to sort out the issue.
GTO has almost succeeded in achieving the target of 500 rooms on negotiated rates with the guest house owners of Karol Bagh area. Paharganj, where a major chunk of the guest houses are located, the guest house owners were not cooperating with the GTO. GTO is looking for almost 1,000 budget rooms from this area on negotiated rates. According to Daljit Singh, President, Lodging House Owners’ Association of Paharganj, the association has agreed to discuss the rates with the GTO.
